We are a friendly group of volunteers who enjoy the fellowship of working together and (with the help of our volunteer church cleaners and flower arrangers) we try very hard to keep our buildings and churchyard looking at their best.
We carry out simple maintenance and gardening tasks in and around the church, the churchyard and the Parish Centre. Typical tasks include:
- mowing grass +trimming hedges
- pruning shrubs +edging paths
- flattening molehills +picking up rubbish
- weeding flower beds +changing light bulbs
- other non-specialist maintenance tasks.
Each Lent we spring-clean the church ready for Easter. One Friday evening two or three weeks before Easter we brush down cobwebs and accumulated dust from those places which routine cleaning can’t reach and let it settle overnight. The following morning we come back and hoover up all the dust and then polish everything to get the church really clean for Easter, the most important festival in the Christian calendar.
Some basic tools are provided by the Parish but members of the Work Party often bring their own hand tools.
A list of tasks is circulated a few days before we meet so that everyone knows what tools are needed on the day.
