Our Finance Team keeps track of parish accounts - an essential part in managing all our activities. Having done this for several years, our current team are looking to hand over their work to new people, ideally by July 2021.
The Treasurer manages all aspects of our financial and budget system, including income and expenditure and the affordability of proposed projects, reports regularly on these to PCC and produces the Financial Statement for the annual Trustees Report. By tradition they are a member of PCC but this is not essential.
Important skills include: able to take an overview; comfortable in presenting financial information in an easy to understand form; working with other people across the parish.
Specialised accountancy qualifications are not required as we now use a cash accounting system.
The Assistant Treasurer works with the Treasurer to ensure the accounts are up to date. Using Quickbooks they are responsible for many of the operational aspects of book-keeping and accounting including payments, payroll, banking records and sending financial returns to the diocese. (Quickbooks training is available). Some experience with accountancy or bookkeeping is desirable.
Skills needed for both these vacancies: discretion, computer literacy, comfortable dealing with spreadsheets and numbers. These are important and valued roles and we would like to hear from anyone who is interested in taking them on. For Job Descriptions or more information please contact the Appointments Committee via email or the Treasurer via email or via the Parish Office: Tel 01344 425205 (Answerphone).
