Youth Emmaus is a church Youth Group aimed at children from Year 4.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month during term time, in the Parish Centre from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
Through fun and games, with a little bit of bible study in between we learn about Christianity and Jesus, whilst building a loving relationship with God along the way. You don't have to be a regular churchgoer to be able to join in our fellowship the door are open to everyone!
Each session begins with a little ice breaker game just to get the kids settled in - this is usually done over lots of crisps and cakes, a perfect table ministry for our members. Then comes the worship time where we talk about God and Jesus' involvement in our everyday lives, referring to the Bible to help us see examples of what it is to lead a Christian lifestyle. We have recently added a "Praise" slot to get the children used to singing to God and by the volume they can reach I would say that they're really enjoying this new addition to our session. Prayer plays a very important part in our fellowship time together and the children have learnt that there isn't a wrong or a right way to do it. With lots of encouragement the majority now willingly take part in "prayer circles" where all our prayers are gathered as one and sent up to God.
Having fun is an essential ingredient of Youth Emmaus and we enjoy some really daft games that have us in stitches! We have also had some fab outings to "Laserquest", snowtubing at the John Nike Centre, a tour of St Michael's Bell Tower to name a few.
